Tudor Submariner "Lollipop"

Tudor Submariner "Lollipop"

£5,800.00Price

While many watch enthusiasts are aware of the Rolex Submariner, and more are becoming aware of the charm of a vintage Tudor Submariner, fewer still (including myself) are slowly learning of rarer references such as this 76100, and rarer still with its lollipop hand.

The Tudor Submariner 76100 was introduced in 1984 however as a transitional reference, was only in production for a short space of time. Earlier watches, such as this piece, have the “T SWISS T” dial, referring to the tritium used in the hour markers, bezel and hands. These earlier watches were also fitted with the “lollipop” hour hand, giving a nod to the expansive lume used. This was later replaced by the more common Mercedes hands where the tritium was less likely to crack. Differentiating this watch further is the use of a brushed metal date disc, whereas all other models use a painted white date disc.

The dial and hands on this example are in a wonderful condition - the tritium has aged to a buttery-cream colour. The dial is believed to be original and the hands are thought to be early service hands.

The case used is the 40mm Oyster case that we know and love – offering a relatively slim profile for a steel sports watch. The steel bi-directional bezel features a black aluminium insert, adorned with a tritium dot at 12 o’clock.

Underneath a Rolex-stamped case back is a Tudor-modified ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, known to be sturdy and reliable. The watch is running well, and as such we are pleased to offer it with a 6-month warranty. Furthermore, the watch is supplied with authenticity paperwork from WatchFinder and a WatchFinder presentation box.

Fitted to the watch is a steel folded Oyster bracelet, reference 9315. It features a Tudor logo on the outside of the clasp, a Rolex stamp on the inside of the clasp, and a diver’s extension. We think that this watch would also look fantastic on any number of straps including a leather, sailcloth, rubber or NATO.

This piece is a truly charming example of a vintage Tudor Submariner and would make a wonderful addition to any watch collection.
