Panerai 1940 3 Days Automatic Radiomir

Italian watchmaker Panerai have been producing watches since 1860, concentrating their efforts to create dive watches for the Italian Navy and in doing so, developed Radiomir, a highly-luminous substance for use on watch dials.

The Panerai Radiomir watch was first produced in the 1940s – a large cushion-shaped case with wire lugs, a highly legible dial and reliable mechanical movement, not too dissimilar from this 2017 version.

This PAM00619 was created as a celebration of those early watches, with the added benefit of an automatic movement, visible through an exhibition case back. The in-house Panerai calibre P.4000 has two barrels and boasts an impressive 3-day power reserve, and the use of a micro-rotor means that the movement is that bit thinner, and the watch itself is just 3.95mm thick.
 
The 45mm case is still fairly substantial in size, however being made from lightweight titanium, it sits well on the wrist and doesn’t feel clumsy like steel watches of a similar size can feel. The slim bezel has a polished finish, adding an element of luxury and contrasting against the brushed case middle.
 
I’m a huge fan of a sandwich dial and love the simplicity of this design. The creamy luminous hands and indices match the dark brown of the dial, and the matt finish makes the dial appear black in some lights.

The watch is paired with a brown leather Panerai strap, and would look just as good on any number of straps from black alligator to a green rubber or even a NATO.

We are pleased to present this watch in an excellent pre-owned condition. The movement has been tested and is running well, and as such as are pleased to supply the watch with a 6-month warranty, along with its original box and paperwork.
