Omega Speedmaster Anniversary Series FOIS
There are few watches as well-loved as the Omega Speedmaster. It has been included in all six lunar missions and is an impressive representation of Omega's adventurous pioneering spirit.
Seven years before that first moon landing, in 1962, astronaut Walter Schirra wore his personal Speedmaster CK 2998 on the Mercury-Atlas 8 mission, giving the watch the “First Omega in Space” nickname.
This 2024 reference 310.30.40.50.06.001 is a celebration of that early Speedmaster, retaining many of the original features.
The much-loved chronograph dial is now finished with a CVD coating to give the blue-grey a striking sunburst finish. Baton indices are finished with a vintage-inspired peach-coloured Super-LumiNova which matches the Alpha-shaped hour and minute hands.
The 39.7mm steel case wears well on the wrist and features both brushed and polished finishes to highlight its sleek lines. The closed case back shows an engraving of the Hippocampus, a mythological Greek seahorse that Omega have used since 1958, along with the text “THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE” AND “OCTOBER 3, 1962”.
Powering the watch is Omega’s calibre 3861 manual wind movement which not only features a co-axial escapement but is a Certified Master Chronometer, approved by METAS, and offers a 50-hour power reserve.
In keeping with those early Speedmasters, the watch is paired with a steel flat-link bracelet which has the added benefit of a comfort release on the clasp, ensuring that it always sits well on your wrist.
We are excited to present this very special watch in an excellent, like-new condition. It comes supplied as a full set with its original box and paperwork, including an Omega warranty to 2029.
