Laventure Transatlantique GMT
You won’t find a Laventure watch in your local AD. You won’t see one in the pub, and you’re unlikely to see one at a watch meet-up. There are micro-brands, and then there are exclusive, sought-after, IYKYK micro-brands. Laventure is the latter.
Founded by Clément Gaud as a kickstarter in 2017, the brand releases new models in very limited numbers. For example, there are only 100 pieces of this 2021 Transatlantique, 50 with a green dial and 50 with the cream dial we have here. All 100 watches sold out within two hours of their release.
Inspired by an adventurous spirit, the Transatlantique gives a nod to those first long-haul flights that took place in the 1950s. Those early transatlantic pilots needed a watch that was able to display multiple time zones simultaneously and as such the GMT watch was born.
An arrow-tipped GMT hand allows the wearer to track a second time zone, and a rotating bezel with a 24-hour insert indicates an additional time zone. Furthermore, two colours on the bezel insert differentiate between day and night.
The sandwich dial is a thing of beauty – a light cream colour is highlighted with soft green accents and over-sized cut-outs allow for peachy-coloured Super-LumiNova® to glow through from the plate below.
The 40.5mm steel case is predominantly brushed, with polished finished used to highlight its smooth lines and sharp edges. The crown and crown guards at 3 o’clock are mirrored by a ‘wing’ at 9 o’clock to keep balance, and a steel integrated bracelet gives a seamless feel to the design. The bracelet itself is very comfortable and well-made. The clasp is adorned with the brands’ logo and the centre links are also shaped to reflect the logo.
Underneath a brilliantly decorated case back, the watch is powered by a Swiss-made ETA 2893-2 automatic movement, known to be reliable and robust enough for everyday wear.
The movement, along with the case, bracelet and Plexiglas, mean that the watch can boast being 100% Swiss-made.
We are excited to present this watch in an excellent pre-owned condition. It comes supplied with a striking presentation box, inspired by a special edition of the book ‘The Extraordinary Voyages’ by Jules Verne. The cork interior safely stores your watch, alongside a bracelet tool and spring bar tool, polishing cloth, and paperwork for the watch, sealed with a wax stamp. The quality and attention to detail in the packaging is a reflection of that which you can find in the design and execution of the watch.
